MMA Phase 1 Program for BEGINNERS & INTERMIDIATES

Our MMA Phase One Program is unique; you wont find anything else like it anywhere in Australia. We offer the cutting edge training methods and concepts that are practical and workable for combat and competition settings. The arts taught in our MMA class are: Bruce Lee’s JKD, Filipino Kali, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Boxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Savate, MK & No Gi Grappling. All students begin with a general conditioning and general awareness phase. 70% of the training is Jun Fan Kick boxing (Bruce's kick boxing methods). The other 30% is divided between trapping, standing grappling, ground grappling, single stick and single knife training, basic self-defense, mass attack training (two on one, three on one) and environmental training. The goal during this phase of training is to develop the student's overall awareness of each aspect of street fighting. The major focus of the training will be to develop the student's overall awareness in all ranges of MMA: Kicking, Punching, Trapping, Grappling, Weapons and Mass Attack.

ADVANCED MMA

Phase Two - The Matrix & RAT System. Phase two is a JKD Blend through Kicking, Punching, Trapping, Grappling, Weaponry & Mass Attack. Phase Three - This phase of training focuses specifically on Jun Fan trapping methods and various close quarter fighting methods. Students learn specific trapping methods for boxers and kick boxers. The trapping phase of training is the heart and soul of JKD. It is a range at which most trained and untrained people feel uncomfortable. They either want to push away and go back to kick boxing, or close the gap and go to the grappling range. Trapping range is HOME for the JKD practitioner!!! Phase Four - This phase of training focuses on the stick and knife fighting methods of Filipino Kali. The training curriculum involves single and double stick training, single and double knife training, espada y daga (long and short) training & long pole training. Students will spar stick to stick, stick to knife, knife to knife, empty hand to stick and empty hand to knife. Students will continue to practice Jun Fan kick boxing and trapping. However, the intensity of the drills and sparring will increase. Phase Five - This phase of training focuses on standing grappling and ground grappling, as well as the integration of all ranges. Once proficiency is achieved in each range of fighting (long weapon, short weapon, kicking, boxing, trapping, standing grappling and ground grappling), the student must now integrate the different ranges: kicking against boxing, boxing against trapping, trapping against grappling, grappling against stick fighting, stick fighting against knife fighting, knife fighting against kick boxing kina mutai (pinching, biting, slapping, poking, gouging, etc..) against grappling. The students must also incorporate environmental training into the matrix. Students will grapple on concrete and asphalt, and they will kick box on a staircase or on slippery grass after it has rained, etc.. Phase Six,Seven & Eight are Instructorship Levels of study.

Self-defense for all ages

Our Self-defense program has an adult and childrens syllabus, it provides you with real skills that work in the real world – and we do so via a proven method in a safe and fun environment. The adult self-defense is based on our Navy Seal Military technology program still used today in real life combat. This program combines Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Kali and Jiu-jitsu. Our childrens self defense program is a complete different syllabus from that studied by adults. We do not encourage our young students to solve problems by just punching and kicking their way out of a confrontation. We teach our kids how to gain control and negotiate with the person standing or once the fight hits the ground. Once self-confidence and self-esteem is increased kids do better at school at home and their future career, most of all LIFE.

Machida Karate Adults

Machida Karate is a dynamic and effective method of training that is practical for self-defense. Easy to learn for all ages, it is applicable in realistic situations and improves your fitness level by developing well-rounded combative and fighting skills. Over the last several decades, karate has lost its core effectiveness as a method of street self-defense due to the emphasis most schools place on point-based sportive tournaments. Machida Karate is committed to preserving the integrity of the art by teaching the techniques and philosophies that ensure karate’s effectiveness where it matters most. Machida Karate is a very traditional form of karate that was adapted by Master Machida and his sons to be effective in real street self-defense situations as well as MMA competitions. It utilizes traditional techniques such as punches, knees, kicks and elbows, but also incorporates takedowns and submissions.

Machida Karate Little Pups Age 4-7

Our 4-7 Kids Little Pups classes place a strong emphasis on developing a sense of teamwork, focus and balance. We also want to help our students to remember that, although winning is a great accomplishment, loosing is part of life, and that the most important thing is to be able to give one’s best. A variety of drills are used to increase body coordination, focus, listening skills and to instill a positive mental attitude. Little Pups classes teach the basic techniques and Katas to prepare the student for advancement under the Machida Karate Belt System and for the transition to the Youth Cubs program.

Machida Karate Youth Cubs Age 8-14

Our 8-14 Youth Cubs classes students will learn: Machida Karate techniques, speed and precision. How to improve coordination, balance, flexibility, strength, stamina How to dominate feelings such as Courage, self-esteem, self-control, respect and discipline. The physical benefits are energizing, as children practice kicking, punching, blocking, stretching, running and jumping during each interactive class, encouraging a healthy lifestyle in a fun environment. The training atmosphere is safe, supportive and non-competitive, since Machida Karate emphasizes the team work in order to achieve individual goals. Our Youth Cubs Students will be learning on an individual level, but they will also be learning with their fellow class mates and instructors, which will naturally help create a space where everyone can learn together, as well as socialize together.

In 2000 I moved to the United States and began training under Erik Paulson with Combat Submission Wrestling. It was at that time period I met Robert Parmakovski in a JKD/Kali training session.

We both became great friends and started to train and teach classes together. His a great Mixed Martial Arts practitioner with self defense fighting skills to back it up. I believe if he didn't move back to Australia he would be right beside me in the UFC & MMA world. Rob keep up the great work my friend.

Coach Robert Parmakovski has been a crucial part of my martial arts achievements, especially in Jiu-Jitsu seeing he was my first coach in BJJ.
